Our mission is to educate the public about how basic Bill of Rights protections apply during encounters with law enforcement. To accomplish this, we create and distribute the most compelling, comprehensive and trustworthy know-your-rights media available.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><a title="Independent Media Center" href="http://www.ucimc.org/" target="_blank">Independent Media Center</a></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16px;"> </span></p> <p style="margin-top: 0.5em; margin-bottom: 0.5em;">The Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center is a grassroots organization committed to using media production and distribution as tools for promoting social and economic justice in the Champaign County area. We foster the creation and distribution of media, art, and narratives emphasizing underrepresented voices and perspectives and promote empowerment and expression through media and arts education.</p> <p style="margin-top: 0.5em; margin-bottom: 0.5em;">To this end, the IMC owns and operates a Community Media and Arts Center housed in the historic downtown Urbana post office building located at 202 S. Broadway Ave at Elm Street. The center includes a stage, radio station, production studios, art studios, library, and meeting spaces.</p> <p style="margin-top: 0.5em; margin-bottom: 0.5em;">&nbsp;</p> <p><a title="Midwest Coalition for Human Rights" href="http://www.midwesthumanrights.org/" target="_blank">Midwest Coalition for Human Rights</a></p> <p>The Midwest Coalition for Human Rights is a network of organizations collaborating to promote and protect human rights in our Midwest region, in the U.S., and internationally. Working together we provide broader visibility for urgent human rights issues in the Heartland and project a strong Midwest advocacy voice in the national and international human rights debate.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><a title="NAACP Champaign County" href="http://naacpcc.org/" target="_blank">NAACP Champaign County</a></p> <p>The NAACP Champaign County Branch serves the people of Champaign County. Our primary focus is to provide programs and services that promote and enhance civil and equal rights, political empowerment, educational excellence, economic development, and outreach, i.e. health, youth, etc. The Champaign County Branch strives to ensure equal access to all rights, privileges and resources that contribute to the quality of life for the people it serves. The strength of our branch lies with the history of the organization and its membership. The Champaign County Branch is committed to building an organization that is trusted, respected and considered an effective resource for the Champaign County community. The overall goal of the branch is to improve the quality of life for the people it serves.</p>
